Antioxidants are compounds that protect the cells (cell membranes) from the potentially harmful effects to our body or reactions that can cause excessive oxidation. Antioxidants are capable of neutralizing oxygen radicals.

Arugula (garden rocket)

The arugula belongs to the Brassicaceae family. It has been cultivated in the Mediterranean area since the times of the Roman Empire, where it was considered an aphrodisiac. Cruciferous vegetables have always been a mass of vitamins and wholesome properties. The arugula is a salad with rich spicy walnut- mustard -pepper taste. Actually, all parts of this plant may be used. For example, leaves and flowers are to be used for cooking, while seeds of arugula are to be used to extract oil.
