The company "BIOnica" is engaged in the preparation of two sites for the cultivation of fish. One - in Chelyabinsk, the other - in Etkul. In the capital of the South Urals, the plant will be located on the site of the former CHGRES. In plans - to grow a dietary, inexpensive catfish, which will be sold throughout the region.
The company "BIOnica" presented the regional and city authorities projects in the field of aquaculture last year. We are talking about two factories for the cultivation of fish: catfish in Chelyabinsk and sturgeon in the Etkul region.

At the end of last summer, the company bought out the former CHGRES site. The choice of location was dictated by the fact that the breeding of the catfish in the basins requires a large expenditure of heat and electricity (catfish is a heat-loving establishment and requires a water temperature of at least 27 degrees Celsius), and they can be provided by the generator of thermal power plant 4. «The building of the former CHGRES is well suited for installation of growing lines: the length of the building is about 200 meters, which is just comparable to the length of the line for growing the african catfish. Also there is good transport accessibility, very close to the Meridian highway, - says Oleg Sergeev, assistant director of BIOnica LLC. - Now on the site there are preparatory works: dismantling of old equipment, metal structures, turbines, boilers. Completely everything is cleaned out in order to place the lines for raising catfish in the main building. »

Oleg Sergeev shows us the drawings and instructions that the planned production capacity is 10 thousand tons of fish (biomass) per year:
"The African catfish is a product that is interesting to the mass consumer. It is calculated on it. The catfish diet is delicious meat, which, by the way, is difficult to distinguish from chicken. And its retail price for large volumes of cultivation will be about the same. We plan to pursue such a pricing policy: 1 kg of catfish is equal to the cost of 1 kg of chicken. Catfish can and should be used for nutrition in general and medical institutions. In state structures, where people have already begun to forget what "fish Thursday" is. Catfish meat has dietary properties and also contains a high amount of protein and, most importantly, iodine, providing for the development of the child's body, cognitive functions of the brain - such as attention, memory, language, visual-spatial perception, etc. »

Oleg Sergeev especially notes that according to taste qualities the meat of the "aquaculture" catfish will be difficult to distinguish from the chicken, and unlike the meat of a wild fellow, the catfish will not smell of silt or mud. And the maintenance of fish in flowing, carefully cleaned cool water will help and remove the specific flavor of mixed fodders, and reduce the amount of fat in the carcass.
BIOnica plans to grow catfish on the site in Chelyabinsk, and to send the carcasses to the Etkul region, where a plant for sturgeon breeds is being built. Distribute capacity in this way is convenient and profitable for the company. The processing facilities of the facility will be used to produce a wide range of products, including chilled carcasses / fillets, salted and smoked products, semi-finished products, and also a children's "line" of high-protein nutrition, such as sausages, cutlets, meatballs, etc.,
"We plan to occupy a market niche in the production and sale of inexpensive and high-quality fish in Chelyabinsk and the region," says Salim Sharypov, director of BIOnica LLC. - Such products can and should be presented in local retail. After the completion of the site preparation for construction, approximately three months later, we will begin to solve the issue of attracting finance. On how quickly it will be decided, the timing of putting the plants into operation will depend. The total amount of investments required to start the enterprise for growing the african catfish is 3.2 billion rubles.

The Chelyabinsk city administration fully supports the project and provides the support necessary for its implementation. Today, there is a tripartite agreement concluded between the head of the city, the Investment Development Agency of the city of Chelyabinsk and the initiator of the project (BIOnica) to accompany the project in the "one-stop" mode. So, for example, the choice of the site of the former ChGRES was carried out with the participation of the city.
- The project "BIOnica" is strategically important for the city, - Tatyana Stepanova, director of the Agency for Investment Development of Chelyabinsk, comments. - This is not only a new, clean and high-tech production (the initiator of the project has selected the best world technologies for the plant in Chelyabinsk), new jobs and tax deductions. The most important thing is that it is a significant product for our population: fresh, quality fish. We all, South Ural people, know firsthand how we lack iodine and how important it is for our body. And the opportunity to buy fish, rich in this trace element, at a price affordable for all strata of the population - will be an excellent advantage for the Chelyabinsk people.
It is possible that the project "BIOnica" will be presented state guarantees of the Chelyabinsk region. The chances for this are high, as the project is really unique, and the population's need for a quality fish product affordable is not entirely satisfied with the current proposal.
